"...I direct them to two performances. De Niro in Raging Bull and Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood."

I'm strangely delighted to read this, as they're the exact two performances I rate as the best I've seen.

Really interesting look at the best actor Oscar history. I'm witn you though with Clooney winning this year not because it is necessarily his greatest performance but he is playing the campaign game strongly this year.

Couldn't agree with you more on Jesse, Owen. I can't remember the last time I was so fascinated by someone's performance. Obviously Fincher and The Social Network (which now, according to Spielberg, joins the likes of The Graduate and Citizen Cane) would be much worthier winners than Hooper and The King's Speech with their "clean campaign", although in my dream world Nolan and Inception would finally get some recognition.

Ah Bangkok Dangerous - what a film. Unbelievable sheer awfulness that verges into brilliant somehow even though it shouldn't. Definitely a so bad it's good classic.

Done - my choice was pretty limited as I haven't seen Never Let Me Go, The Fighter or the King's Speech, darn my 9-5 job...
Inception all the way, basically.

Went for Hailee Steinfeld for Best Supporting Actress - I know she should really be in the Best Actress Category but Portman has that sown up and those two were by a mile the best two actresses on screen this year, with Chloe Moretz an honourable third.

Need to watch a couple more of the nominated films before completing the vote!
