The Wednesday Watch – Ian McKellen is The Fresh Prince

How do you find Will Smith in the snow? Look for Fresh Prints. Hahahahahahhahahhahahha!

Okay, okay, it’s not really a short film but if this doesn’t cheer you up on a Wednesday then you’re probably going a bit head-mental from constant vuvuzela abuse.

I wish I could actually name-check the young chap doing this but alas my googling abilities came up short. But not only props to the kid for a pitch perfect Ian impression but also being a snappy tie-wearing motherfucker. A tie! On Youtube! Fresh indeed.

The Wednesday Watch – The Anti-Lassie

There’s a lot to do in Cannes. Watch movies, laugh at Russell Crowes accent, watch movies, watch topless women sunbathing, watch movies, etc, etc. But where’s the fun in just watching a movie when you can film one?

cats

The age old question which is better Cats or Dogs gets an outing 100 million times better than The Revenge Of Kitty Galore (that’s a new kids film not some smut I found late at night). Two friends pit Pooch Vs Pussy in a verbal battle to prove the perfect pet. A twist in the tail makes for an unlikely champion.

The Wednesday Watch – My Wrongs #8245–8249 & 117

In celebration of Four Lions hitting cinemas this Friday we’ve gone stiff cocked and panty soppingly wet for all things Chris Morris. We’re starting with a re-watch of his BAFTA winning short film My Wrongs #8245–8249 & 117. A film as mental as a cat tied to a stick, that’s driven into frozen winter shit.

The Wednesday Watch – Logorama

Some short films have only a smattering of humour going for them. Some short films are solely visually impressive. Some short films have nothing to offer but a sweeping statment. Logorama, winner of the best Animated Short Film at this years Oscars has all of this and more.

Utilising only contemporary logos for characters and background, Logorama begins like an animated, commercialised, Tarantino flick as the Michelin Men hunt a gun-toting Ronald McDonald. As the film gathers pace it takes on the disaster movie mantle, merging 2012 with every consumerists wet-dream.

The Wednesday Watch – Jagg Off

Continuing our Wednesday Watch, where we wander around the internet to find content that we think you’ll like, is a short film that may be one of the funniest 5 minutes you’ll see today but also may ruin your life.

Made by the comedy duo, ‘Evan and Gareth’, Jagg Off first hit the net a few years ago but if re-showing gets one more person ‘jaggering’ we at thisfilmison will be muchly happy.

Okay the ending may be a step into the absurd, but the sheer comedy timing of the Jagging is borderline genius. So without further ado, “Do Your Best Jagger!”

The Wednesday Watch – You Leave Me No Choice

New to thisfilmison.com is our Wednesday Watch, where we wander around the internet to find content that we think you’ll like.

Taking our inspiration from the fact that both District 9 and 9 began their lives as tiny films (think Jaws compared to Bigger Jaws) we’ve decided to praise all thing short. Bar Joe Pesci. His music and face scare me.

First up is Cory Price, hoster of ‘The Mindless Meat Parade’ and maker of some perversely funny and joyously dark material.

The best of his material is available for you to view below. It contains strong language and a scary man. But we like that sort of thing.

Got any tips for great short films? Made one and want a platform? Get in touch and, if we like, we’ll put your video up.
