The Wednesday Watch – Logorama

Some short films have only a smattering of humour going for them. Some short films are solely visually impressive. Some short films have nothing to offer but a sweeping statment. Logorama, winner of the best Animated Short Film at this years Oscars has all of this and more.

Utilising only contemporary logos for characters and background, Logorama begins like an animated, commercialised, Tarantino flick as the Michelin Men hunt a gun-toting Ronald McDonald. As the film gathers pace it takes on the disaster movie mantle, merging 2012 with every consumerists wet-dream.

Written and Directed by H5/ François Alaux, Hervé de Crécy and Ludovic Houplain, and produced by Autour de Minuit, this may be the best 17 minutes of animation you’ll see outside of a Pixar movie. Speaking of which even Wall-E‘s fictional company, Buy N Large, get a nod. Enjoy.

Have a short film you want to air? Seen one you think we’ll like? Get in touch and next Wednesday it could be your film we’re raving about.
